우리 삶 속에서 디지털과 아날로그는 서로 교차하며 복잡한 무늬를 이룹니다.
"Video Signal" 시리즈는 이러한 현상을 재해석하여 창작한 연작의 첫 번째 작품으로,
김소영 작가의 개인적인 경험과 기술의 발전을 연결 짓습니다.
작가는 엘지 디스플레이에서 7년 동안 수행한 품질 검사 업무에서 얻은 경험을 기반으로 작품을 창작했습니다.
그 과정에서 각종 디스플레이 패턴을 수 천 번이나 반복하여 본 경험은 무의식적으로 작가의 창작에 영향을 미쳤습니다.
작품은 한국 전통 종이에 먹으로 그린 뒤 디지털 처리를 거쳐 Hahnemühle 종이에 인쇄되었습니다.
이 과정은 디지털 신호가 패턴화되어 화면에 전달되는 과정을 상징적으로 표현하며,
아날로그와 디지털, 과거와 현재가 결합된 형태를 보여줍니다.
작품의 중심에는 빛의 3원색 – 빨강, 녹색, 파랑이 조화롭게 어우러진 패턴이 펼쳐져 있습니다.
이 패턴은 단순한 시각적 요소를 넘어 작가가 경험한 시각적 자극과 반복적인 업무 과정에서 느낀 지루함, 그리고 뇌의 자극을 상징합니다.
"Video Signal"은 일상에서 겪는 반복적이고 기계적인 요소와 자연스러운 요소가 어우러져 생기는 새로운 미학을 탐구합니다.
이러한 접근 방식은 미래의 연작에서도 지속될 예정이며,
디지털과 아날로그의 조화로운 만남을 통해 삶의 전환과 변화를 재해석할 계획입니다.

In our lives, digital and analog intersect and form complex patterns.
The "Video Signal" series is the first in a series of works created by reinterpreting this phenomenon,
connecting the artist's personal experience with the development of technology.
The artist based her work on the experience she gained from her seven years of quality inspection work at Elgee Display.
During that time, the experience of seeing various display patterns repeatedly thousands of times subconsciously influenced the artist's creation.
The artwork was drawn with ink on traditional Korean paper, digitally processed, and printed on Hahnemühle paper.
This process symbolizes the process by which digital signals are patterned and transferred to the screen,
analog and digital, past and present.
At the center of the work is a harmonious pattern of the three primary colors of light - red, green, and blue.
More than just a visual element, the pattern symbolizes the artist's experience of visual stimulation, boredom with repetitive tasks, and stimulation of the brain.
"Video Signal" explores a new aesthetic that combines the repetitive, mechanical elements of everyday life with natural elements.
This approach will be continued in my future series,
We plan to reinterpret life's transitions and changes through a harmonious meeting of digital and analog.

본 비디오 작품은 붓글씨의 전통적인 정적인 이미지를 넘어서, 그 안에 숨겨진 역동성과 파괴적인 힘의 아름다움을 탐구합니다. 대부분의 사람들은 붓글씨를 정중하고 고요한 예술로 생각하기 쉽습니다. 그러나 이 작품은 그 너머의 무한한 가능성을 탐색하며, 붓글씨의 깊은 내면에 숨겨진 원초적인 에너지를 표현합니다.

Most people think of calligraphy as a respectful and tranquil art form, but this piece explores the infinite possibilities beyond, expressing the primal energy hidden deep within.
The wild and bold calligraphic performance is a visual representation of calligraphy's intense energy and moments of destruction. The pixels shimmer with the three primary colors of light, adding depth and color to the piece through a spectacular visual effect, blending digital and analog.
Beyond simple brushwork, the piece seeks to explore the new possibilities of calligraphy in a dynamic and contemporary way, challenging viewers to push the boundaries between traditional and modern, static and dynamic.
